Our McKenna 2011 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc was produced from a single vineyard in the Pope Valley region of California, a small area in the northern Napa Valley Appellation. A blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon presents itself with a pale straw-like color. The nose offers many layers of mature aromas like grapefruit, lime, daffodil and honey. The toast in the finish gives some vanilla and freshly baked cupcake types of flavors. A creamy round and powerful mid palate is provided by the French oak barrel ageing. This medium to heavy-bodied wine is a very good tribute to the Bordeaux-style dry whites. This is a mature wine, which should maintain its numerous qualities over the next 5 years.
